Research Methodology II is essentially dedicated to the preparation of the research project, in the case of the masters, and review of the research project presented in the selective process of the Program, in the case of PhD students. Provide knowledge of environmental microbiology and applied to biological treatment processes. Study processes of interest to the biological treatment: nitrification, denitrification, methanogenesis, sulfetogenesis, oxidation of methane, Anammox, oxidation of elemental H2S to S, among others. Importance of microbial biofilms in reactors and bioremediation of contaminated areas (transformation of toxic compounds - aromatic hydrocarbons). Provide notions of classical and molecular microbiology techniques used for the detection, quantification and identification of microorganisms in environmental samples and treatment systems.
